Context

My bachelor’s thesis for the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering at the Universidade da Coruña. GitLab gives little visibility of each team member’s work and of how a project is going overall, which is sorely missed when coordinating teams.

Approach

  • Server. A Spring Boot application over PostgreSQL that syncs issues, projects, groups and users from the GitLab API in the background.
  • Client. A Vue 3 application with GitLab OAuth 2.0 sign-in that talks to the server over REST and a websocket.
  • Views. A dashboard with issues over time and filters, plus Issues, People and Teams sections.
  • Testing. Automated tests with Cypress.

Outcome

A complete application that brings the activity of projects, and of the people working on them, into a single view. The project was a chance to go through the whole life cycle of a product, from designing the sync with an external API to the interface and its tests.
